Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut

Social responsibility is defined as an ethical theory that an entity, be it an
organization or individual, has an obligation to act to benefit society at large. This is core to the Y mission and comes in many forms.

The Regional Y meets its commitment to Social Responsibility by changing to
meet the needs of the diverse communities in the 22 town region we serve.
Each year we partner with dozens of other agencies, community groups and
organizations, including those listed on our "collaborations" page, to address
the area’s most pressing needs. These partnerships are instrumental
in maximizing resources and making a powerful impact in the Greater
Danbury community.

The Y offers 40 different programs to over 12,000 individuals throughout
the area and provides more than $500,000 in direct financial assistance for camps, after school programs, members, childcare and more. At the Y we are a community and we take great pride in our ability to serve as a resource, partner and leader, not just for members, but for the entire region in the areas of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility. Please join us as we continue to change lives for the better.

Through our staff-led Togetherhood initiative, we work with Y members to do good works throughout the community on a year-round basis. Be Kind activities include such events as food drives, Giving Trees, Holiday giveaways, Relay for Life and Parent University. We welcome community members who want to give their time and talent to the Y. More than 500 people volunteer at the Y each year. Contact us to learn more.

Gifts to our annual support campaign help fund these important initiatives. Through your support, together we can continue making a positive impact in our community for many years to come.

Thank you.
