Do I have to be a member of the Y?
You do not have to be a member. However, we encourage families to become Family members at a 50% discount.
What is the earliest and latest time that I can bring my child in and pick up my child?
We open at 7:30AM and close at 6:00PM. Children can attend after in person school and on distance learning days.
Can I bring my child in on days when there is a delay?
Yes.
If I sign my child up for a Y program at the Greenknoll Branch will you bring them?
No, this school year we will not be able to bring children to their program or pick them up.
Are snacks provided?
Yes, we provide a healthy snack for our children. We offer one snack on a school day and two snacks on a day off from school. Families can also send in extra snack if they choose to do so.
What school systems do you serve?
We serve schools in Brookfield and Danbury School Systems. Schools in Brookfield include: Center, Huckleberry Hill and Whiscoiner. Schools in Danbury include: Stadley Rough, Hayestown, Great Plain, St. Greg’s and Broadview Middle School.
How do the children get to the YMCA School Age Program?
Children that attend Brookfield schools are brought to the program by the Brookfield school bus. Children that attend Danbury schools are picked up at school and brought to the Y by a YMCA van.
What will my child do while at the School Age Program?
Our staff will assist children with distance learning. Children will have the opportunity to participate in activities such as cooking, literacy, lots of physical activity and outdoor time.
How do you handle homework?
Staff is always available to help children with homework. We ask families to let us know how much homework they would like the child to do while at the program.
Can I visit the facility without an appointment?
Yes, however due to the wellbeing of the children in our care, we will require any one entering our program to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
What do I need to do to register my child?
Every child in our program must have a completed registration form on file. They will also need a complete Health Assessment form with complete immunizations record. It is recommended that you ask for a copy from your child’s school.
Are there other fees to register?
Yes, there is a $25 non-refundable registration fee and a $100 deposit.
What happens if I have an emergency and can’t make it to pick up my child?
We ask that you email or fax us the name of the person picking up your child. Anyone that we do not know will be asked to present a picture ID; license is always best.
What is the staff to child ratio?
We maintain a 8 to 1 ratio in the Kindergarten through 3rd grade program and a 10 to 1 in the 4th grade and up program.
Are teachers trained in first aid and CPR?
Yes, we have staff on site at all times that are trained.
What if my child has to take medication at the program?
An Administration of Medication form must be filled out for any medication, prescription or over the counter. Both parent and physician must sign the form. A staff trained in Administration of Medication will assist your child with medication.
My child has an allergy that requires an Epi-Pen, how do you handle that?
Families must provide the Epi-pen and an Administration of Medication form must be on file. We will also require a care plan signed by you and your child’s physician in order to administer an Epi-pen. We will follow the care plan provided by the physician.
I only need childcare 2 days of the week. Is that possible?
Since districts are going with a hybrid model, we will be open Monday-Friday from 7:30AM to 6:00PM, allowing your child(ren) to attend before/afterschool hours on their in-school days, and full day on their distance learning days. You will need to register for all 5 days.
Is there a discount for siblings?
Yes, there is a 10% discount for siblings.
When is my tuition due?
Tuition is due each Friday.
