Pickleball

At the Regional YMCA, we’re rising to the challenge of providing our members with the opportunity to learn and play pickleball!

Pickleball is:

  • Easy to learn and play
  • Great exercise
  • Inexpensive
  • A ton of fun

Pickleball culture is:

  • Welcoming to new players
  • Social
  • Inclusive
  • Makes it easy to find others to play with, anywhere you go

For all these reasons, Pickleball is America’s Fastest Growing Sport!

Pickleball was invented in 1965 as a children’s backyard game. It is a racket/paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball over a net. Pickleball shares features of other racket sports – a net like tennis, a court like badminton, and a paddle like table tennis.
